About this design
Solid heart is just what the name says: a heart filled edge to edge in a single raspberry pink, with wide curves and a slender point at the bottom. There is no outline and no added detail, only a clean, easily readable silhouette with a graphic feel that suits many styles. At 61 × 55 mm and 5125 stitches, it takes about seven minutes to stitch.
It works nicely on a bib, a zip pouch, a tea towel or the pocket of a sweatshirt, and repeated across a cushion. On soft jersey, use a cut-away stabiliser so the fill stays flat; against white or natural linen, this pink really sings. A simple free machine embroidery design, ideal for a first try.
How to stitch it
- Prepare 1 thread: pink. The names give the closest shade; pick the one you like in your thread brand.
- Hoop the fabric in a 10 × 10 cm hoop with a stabiliser: tear-away for woven fabric (cotton, linen, canvas), cut-away for stretchy fabric (T-shirt, sweatshirt, bodysuit).
- Stitch the colours in this order: pink. The machine stops at each thread change (0 change).
- Allow about 7 minutes at 700 stitches per minute, 5,125 stitches in all.
- For another size, open the design in the studio rather than enlarging it on the machine: the stitches are recalculated and the density stays right.
