Stitching on Brother: PES, transfer, hoops

Brother reads PES. Broderly writes it with the Brother thread palette and preview thumbnail, for PE, SE, Innov-is and the multi-needle PR series.

PES

Which format

The PES, with a lower-case .pes extension. Broderly writes PES version 1 with a PEC section: the most widely read variant, from the PE-770 to the PR1055X, containing the stitches, colours matched to the 64-thread Brother palette and a thumbnail shown on the machine screen. PR multi-needle machines also read DST and PEN; PES remains simplest because it carries colours. Baby Lock reads the same PES.

Frequently asked questions

Which PES version for my machine?

PES version 1 with PEC, as written by the studio, is read by every Brother and Baby Lock embroidery machine of the last twenty years.

My Brother says “file too large”

The design exceeds the field of the mounted hoop. Reduce the width at the Size step or use a larger hoop; the studio warns you before export.
