About this design

Pot and lid shows a round cooking pot with two handles, covered in wide diagonal stripes of salmon, white and plum. The lid rests at an angle, revealing alternating sage green and pink segments topped with a small red knob. The plum outline is soft and slightly uneven, giving the whole thing a hand-drawn feel rather than a polished one.

At 69 × 66 mm, this design works nicely on a kitchen towel, an apron pocket or a sturdy cotton tote bag. On a firm weave, a tear-away stabiliser is enough; choose a pale or natural background so the white stripes stay visible in your machine embroidery.

How to stitch it

  1. Prepare 5 threads: white, red, plum, salmon, sage green. The names give the closest shade; pick the one you like in your thread brand.
  2. Hoop the fabric in a 10 × 10 cm hoop with a stabiliser: tear-away for woven fabric (cotton, linen, canvas), cut-away for stretchy fabric (T-shirt, sweatshirt, bodysuit).
  3. Stitch the colours in this order: white → red → plum → salmon → sage green → plum → white → salmon. The machine stops at each thread change (7 changes, 35 trims).
  4. Allow about 22 minutes at 700 stitches per minute, 11,871 stitches in all.
  5. For another size, open the design in the studio rather than enlarging it on the machine: the stitches are recalculated and the density stays right.
