About this design
The Pink birthday cake design shows a three-tier cake with pink icing dripping over a cream base, salmon dots as decoration and firm brown outlines. Three lit candles sit on top, surrounded by round pink confetti and small turquoise accents. The line is thick and playful, in a children's illustration spirit.
At 66 × 70 mm, it suits a bib, a kitchen towel, a pouch or the front of a small sweatshirt. On knits, use a cut-away stabiliser underneath and a water-soluble film on top so the outlines stay crisp. A light background, natural or soft blue, brings out the pink of this machine embroidery nicely.
How to stitch it
- Prepare 6 threads: white, salmon, brown, salmon, turquoise, yellow. The names give the closest shade; pick the one you like in your thread brand.
- Hoop the fabric in a 10 × 10 cm hoop with a stabiliser: tear-away for woven fabric (cotton, linen, canvas), cut-away for stretchy fabric (T-shirt, sweatshirt, bodysuit).
- Stitch the colours in this order: white → salmon → brown → salmon → turquoise → yellow → brown → white. The machine stops at each thread change (7 changes, 40 trims).
- Allow about 18 minutes at 700 stitches per minute, 9,443 stitches in all.
- For another size, open the design in the studio rather than enlarging it on the machine: the stitches are recalculated and the density stays right.
