About this design
Coral Bouquet with Ribbon gathers a few coral-red and white blooms, dark leaves and long stems tied with a pale pink ribbon finished in a bow. The drawing relies on strong dark grey outlines and flat colour areas, with an illustrated, slightly vintage feel and no tricky shading.
At 69 × 70 mm it sits nicely on a pouch, a kitchen towel, a cushion or the corner of a tote bag. On linen or natural cotton the coral tones really come forward. Use a cut-away stabiliser under softer fabrics: this machine embroidery runs to about 11,000 stitches and the outlines like a steady base.
How to stitch it
- Prepare 4 threads: dark grey, salmon, white, white. The names give the closest shade; pick the one you like in your thread brand.
- Hoop the fabric in a 10 × 10 cm hoop with a stabiliser: tear-away for woven fabric (cotton, linen, canvas), cut-away for stretchy fabric (T-shirt, sweatshirt, bodysuit).
- Stitch the colours in this order: dark grey → salmon → white → white → dark grey → white → white. The machine stops at each thread change (6 changes, 62 trims).
- Allow about 22 minutes at 700 stitches per minute, 11,220 stitches in all.
- For another size, open the design in the studio rather than enlarging it on the machine: the stitches are recalculated and the density stays right.
