About this design

Peach and Yellow Bouquet shows a small country bunch tied with a salmon ribbon that ends in a bow and black fringes. You can see one large white flower with an orange centre, a yellow butterfly above it, round peach-coloured berries and long grey-green leaves. The slightly uneven black outlines give it a gentle illustrated look.

At 66 × 70 mm, it suits a zip pouch, a cotton tote bag, a tea towel or the corner of a cushion. Pick natural or pale beige fabric, which brings out the peach and yellow tones, and add cut-away stabiliser under softer cloth: this machine embroidery runs to nearly 12,000 stitches.

How to stitch it

  1. Prepare 6 threads: salmon, white, beige, dark grey, salmon, black. The names give the closest shade; pick the one you like in your thread brand.
  2. Hoop the fabric in a 10 × 10 cm hoop with a stabiliser: tear-away for woven fabric (cotton, linen, canvas), cut-away for stretchy fabric (T-shirt, sweatshirt, bodysuit).
  3. Stitch the colours in this order: salmon → white → beige → dark grey → salmon → black → dark grey → white → salmon. The machine stops at each thread change (8 changes, 81 trims).
  4. Allow about 24 minutes at 700 stitches per minute, 11,975 stitches in all.
  5. For another size, open the design in the studio rather than enlarging it on the machine: the stitches are recalculated and the density stays right.
