About this design

White Bells shows a flowering stem with a gently curved line, hung with small white bells facing downward, framed by two broad sage-green leaves and a few narrower ones. The dark grey outlines trace every shape and give the design the look of a hand-drawn botanical plate, clear and easy to read in just three colours.

At 68 × 67 mm, it sits well on a kitchen towel, a pouch or the corner of a cushion, and on a napkin too. Pick a light background, natural or pale grey, so the white flowers stay visible, and add a tear-away stabiliser under cotton fabrics before you start your machine embroidery.

How to stitch it

  1. Prepare 3 threads: sage green, white, dark grey. The names give the closest shade; pick the one you like in your thread brand.
  2. Hoop the fabric in a 10 × 10 cm hoop with a stabiliser: tear-away for woven fabric (cotton, linen, canvas), cut-away for stretchy fabric (T-shirt, sweatshirt, bodysuit).
  3. Stitch the colours in this order: sage green → white → dark grey → white → sage green. The machine stops at each thread change (4 changes, 35 trims).
  4. Allow about 16 minutes at 700 stitches per minute, 8,832 stitches in all.
  5. For another size, open the design in the studio rather than enlarging it on the machine: the stitches are recalculated and the density stays right.
