About this design
Bunny with carrot shows a small grey rabbit sitting up, eyes closed in two laughing arcs and mouth wide open, hugging a large orange carrot topped with sage green leaves. The inner ears are a soft salmon pink and a dark outline frames the whole design, in a rounded cartoon style.
At 65 × 67 mm it suits a bib, the pocket of a baby bodysuit or a small comfort toy, and also makes a cheerful kitchen towel. On stretchy knits, use a tear-away or wash-away stabiliser, and pick a light background such as ecru or soft blue so the grey bunny stays visible in your machine embroidery.
How to stitch it
- Prepare 6 threads: white, orange, sage green, salmon, salmon, plum. The names give the closest shade; pick the one you like in your thread brand.
- Hoop the fabric in a 10 × 10 cm hoop with a stabiliser: tear-away for woven fabric (cotton, linen, canvas), cut-away for stretchy fabric (T-shirt, sweatshirt, bodysuit).
- Stitch the colours in this order: white → orange → sage green → salmon → salmon → plum → white → sage green. The machine stops at each thread change (7 changes, 26 trims).
- Allow about 18 minutes at 700 stitches per minute, 9,593 stitches in all.
- For another size, open the design in the studio rather than enlarging it on the machine: the stitches are recalculated and the density stays right.
