About this design
Cat silhouette shows a cat sitting in profile, head tilted slightly upward, its long tail curling behind it. Everything rests on the solid dark grey shape, with two small white touches for the inner ear and the eye. The style is simple and graphic, easy to read from a distance.
At 63 × 70 mm, it suits a pouch, a tote bag, a tea towel or a sweatshirt pocket. Choose a light, plain or lightly marled background so the shape stands out. On knit fabric, a cut-away stabiliser on the back keeps things flat during machine embroidery.
How to stitch it
- Prepare 2 threads: dark grey, white. The names give the closest shade; pick the one you like in your thread brand.
- Hoop the fabric in a 10 × 10 cm hoop with a stabiliser: tear-away for woven fabric (cotton, linen, canvas), cut-away for stretchy fabric (T-shirt, sweatshirt, bodysuit).
- Stitch the colours in this order: dark grey → white. The machine stops at each thread change (1 change, 6 trims).
- Allow about 9 minutes at 700 stitches per minute, 5,720 stitches in all.
- For another size, open the design in the studio rather than enlarging it on the machine: the stitches are recalculated and the density stays right.
