About this design
Round cat head shows a cat's face from the front, outlined in strong black lines. The coat is white and grey, with a few stripes on top of the head, pink inner ears, closed arched eyes, a small pink nose and thin whiskers. The drawing has a cheerful comic-book feel, simple and friendly.
At 70 × 67 mm it suits a bib, a pencil case or the front of a sweatshirt. On knits, use a double layer of tear-away stabiliser plus a water-soluble topping so the outlines stay crisp. A plain, mid-toned background fabric brings out the white and grey of this machine embroidery nicely.
How to stitch it
- Prepare 7 threads: white, grey, grey, light grey, pale pink, salmon, black. The names give the closest shade; pick the one you like in your thread brand.
- Hoop the fabric in a 10 × 10 cm hoop with a stabiliser: tear-away for woven fabric (cotton, linen, canvas), cut-away for stretchy fabric (T-shirt, sweatshirt, bodysuit).
- Stitch the colours in this order: white → grey → grey → light grey → pale pink → salmon → black. The machine stops at each thread change (6 changes, 49 trims).
- Allow about 21 minutes at 700 stitches per minute, 11,163 stitches in all.
