About this design
Bunny with carrot shows a little grey rabbit with long pink-lined ears, eyes happily closed and rosy cheeks, hugging a plump orange carrot topped with sage green leaves. The even plum outline gives it a clear, cartoon-like look, simple and rounded.
At 63 × 69 mm it suits a bib, the pocket of a baby bodysuit or a small cotton bag, and works nicely on a flat comforter too. Pick a light background, cream or beige, so the grey rabbit stands out, and use a cut-away stabiliser on knit fabrics: your machine embroidery will stay flat wash after wash.
How to stitch it
- Prepare 6 threads: white, salmon, sage green, salmon, pink, plum. The names give the closest shade; pick the one you like in your thread brand.
- Hoop the fabric in a 10 × 10 cm hoop with a stabiliser: tear-away for woven fabric (cotton, linen, canvas), cut-away for stretchy fabric (T-shirt, sweatshirt, bodysuit).
- Stitch the colours in this order: white → salmon → sage green → salmon → pink → plum → white → salmon. The machine stops at each thread change (7 changes, 29 trims).
- Allow about 19 minutes at 700 stitches per minute, 10,616 stitches in all.
- For another size, open the design in the studio rather than enlarging it on the machine: the stitches are recalculated and the density stays right.
