About this design
Bunny with carrot shows a little grey rabbit sitting down, eyes closed and cheeks pink, hugging a big orange carrot topped with sage green leaves. One ear stands up, the other flops over, and a strong black outline gives the whole thing a simple cartoon look. At 65 × 69 mm and 6 colours, it fits almost anywhere.
It works nicely on a bib, on the pocket of a baby bodysuit or on a small comfort blanket, and it suits a pencil case too. On knits, use a cut-away stabiliser with a water-soluble topping: your machine embroidery will keep clean outlines on a pale or natural background.
How to stitch it
- Prepare 6 threads: white, orange, white, sage green, pale pink, black. The names give the closest shade; pick the one you like in your thread brand.
- Hoop the fabric in a 10 × 10 cm hoop with a stabiliser: tear-away for woven fabric (cotton, linen, canvas), cut-away for stretchy fabric (T-shirt, sweatshirt, bodysuit).
- Stitch the colours in this order: white → orange → white → sage green → pale pink → black → white. The machine stops at each thread change (6 changes, 26 trims).
- Allow about 18 minutes at 700 stitches per minute, 9,902 stitches in all.
- For another size, open the design in the studio rather than enlarging it on the machine: the stitches are recalculated and the density stays right.
