About this design
Fox shows a little fox sitting sideways, its head turned towards you, with wide eyes and a slight smile. The salmon-coloured coat is lightened with white on the muzzle, chest, inner ears and the tip of the bushy tail curling up behind. Brown outlines and burgundy touches give it a soft, cartoon-like look in a compact 67 × 69 mm format.
It works nicely on a bib, a baby bodysuit, a small pouch or the front of a child's sweatshirt. On knits, use a double layer of tear-away stabiliser plus a water-soluble topping so your machine embroidery stays crisp. A cream or soft blue background sets off the salmon tones well.
How to stitch it
- Prepare 4 threads: salmon, white, brown, burgundy. The names give the closest shade; pick the one you like in your thread brand.
- Hoop the fabric in a 10 × 10 cm hoop with a stabiliser: tear-away for woven fabric (cotton, linen, canvas), cut-away for stretchy fabric (T-shirt, sweatshirt, bodysuit).
- Stitch the colours in this order: salmon → white → brown → burgundy → salmon → brown. The machine stops at each thread change (5 changes, 25 trims).
- Allow about 20 minutes at 700 stitches per minute, 11,749 stitches in all.
- For another size, open the design in the studio rather than enlarging it on the machine: the stitches are recalculated and the density stays right.
