About this design
Pink Tulip shows a slender stem carrying one open blossom in pale pink, two closed buds and dark green foliage with long, tapering leaves. The drawing is stylised and slightly graphic, with simple fills and a few light veins that give the petals some depth. Three colours are enough, within a 69 × 69 mm square.
This flower works nicely on a canvas tote bag, a kitchen towel or a zip pouch, and in the corner of a cushion. On linen or medium cotton, add a tear-away stabiliser underneath so your machine embroidery stays flat. A cream or light grey background shows the pink off well.
How to stitch it
- Prepare 3 threads: dark green, pale pink, white. The names give the closest shade; pick the one you like in your thread brand.
- Hoop the fabric in a 10 × 10 cm hoop with a stabiliser: tear-away for woven fabric (cotton, linen, canvas), cut-away for stretchy fabric (T-shirt, sweatshirt, bodysuit).
- Stitch the colours in this order: dark green → pale pink → dark green → pale pink → white. The machine stops at each thread change (4 changes, 41 trims).
- Allow about 13 minutes at 700 stitches per minute, 6,719 stitches in all.
- For another size, open the design in the studio rather than enlarging it on the machine: the stitches are recalculated and the density stays right.
